Snow Removal
"When it snows, we are on the roads for your safety." The township's
policy with regard to snow removal is that, generally, snowfalls with an
accumulation of less than 4-inches on roadway surfaces are handled with
salting and sanding of roadways throughout the town as established by a
designation of Red and Green primary routes. These are major roadways
throughout town generally enabling motorists to reach and travel to
other major roadways. For example, Pleasant Valley Avenue is one of
those "Red Routes" and is continually treated throughout an event.
Generally, should a snowfall exceed 4-inches and plowing is initiated,
the Red and Green routes have already been treated throughout the storm.
Thus, when the snowfall stops and we begin removal, all streets are
plowed and called into the Public Works Office by the crews so that each
street is marked off on a map to ensure its completion. This full
removal, depending on the storm totals, equipment breakdowns and
manpower, usually takes between 15 to 20 hours.
